Bio

North American born, contemporary pianist & composer Edward Travi- expresses himself  best using piano work and electronic sounds, preferably behind a Steinway grand, fully engaged in each piece performing for others.

In 2015 he released his first album "Oath" a series inspired by standing strong in ones personal truth, aligning with a better version of self no matter what, and staying focused on the vision. In 2016 he set forth in  performing his work for others at: art galleries, museums, house concerts, country clubs and dinner clubs such as The Roosevelt Library, event centers like Brick at Blue Star and his most appreciated atmosphere yet; the Tobin Center. With the most interesting venue being The Cave Without A Name, a mile down below the surface, on his birthday. After briefly sharing his album within his home base San Antonio and the surrounding cities  in 2016, he realized that his skills as a pianist were advancing and decided to put aside performing and focused these past 5 years on producing more music and fine-tuning his compositions. Within his hiatus from performing; he was able to score music for a short film "Cost To Life" 2022, along with "I See You, You're Seen" 2023 an Austin based Theatrical. Now he is looking forward to creating more, and sharing his latest work "Polished Time", a 7 piece piano album inspired by the different types of love, with as many people around the world as he can reach. First throughout his North American Tour, and the European tour to follow.

Extended Bio

Edward grew up around understanding parents who showed support in any interest that brought him passion and inspiration. He enjoyed the company of himself and this solitude granted him a deeper knowledge of his truth and nurtured his love for the arts. Most of his art at an early age were based on the vivid dreams he experienced growing up, through writing and visual arts. At the age of 19, he was introduced to an upright piano his father purchased for the family room, however, at first he did not see the reason for his father’s actions because nobody in his family played the piano, he rebelled against this idea. As rebellious as he was; he did not touch the piano until a year after it was brought into his home. One late evening Edward was left with his father’s house to himself, and had the urge to finally acquaint himself with the instrument that turned his life around instantly. After all of the encounters with the piano growing up, all of the signs that would slip in and out of his life as the piano tried to gain his attention; he finally answered and opened the cover to his greatest passion of all, playing the piano. Feeling each sound, memorizing how he felt when listening, the ability to release emotions and express his dreams, life experiences, and simply allowing the piano to take him into a state of peace. Discovering and appreciating each note and what they brought to his life, he developed a controlled curiosity in understanding the nature of the piano as he diligently taught himself through trial and error. He spent hours at a time exploring the sounds of the piano and honing into a craft that he will cherish for the rest of his life. He is able to read and write music, however, he feels that it interferes with his creative process and the richness he feels when he is fully enveloped in his imagination. He prefers to create solely remembering the sounds by memory and feeling, fully connected through his essence, rather than reading sheets.

In his early years of practicing his piano work, Edward decided to compose his first piece "Rise Within", the anchor that gave him his core belief in himself and the determination to stay on this musical journey. Feeling confident in his achievement, he approached a local veteran piano instructor for lessons to boost his skills, after reviewing the history of the piano, he played his original piece "Rise Within" Edward was labeled a romantic after the vet. listened. He followed up in asking if he played the piece wrong, the vet. replied, ending his first and only piano lesson with, "You can't play anything wrong if you wrote it.". Soon after, Edward launched his first album “OATH” in 2015, a seven-piece minimalistic collection in honor of the promise he made to himself (age 18) to be the best that he could be, at whatever he could offer to the world, and to never give up on any vision that he feels passionate towards. Since then, he continues to broaden his practice of the piano and other forms of art.

He is forever grateful for every synchronistic encounter, and the privilege to have lived under the roof of two artists, where the word "can't" was never used, and with the feeling that anything was and is still possible.

You can't play anything wrong, if you wrote it; my peace of mind.”
