dream blü

Back Story

DREAM BLU- influenced by water, music, feelings, thoughts, & emotions. Inspired by myth, dreams, mysticism, architecture, nature, studies & travels.

The flow-state; that is what I wish to accomplish when creating. To align with more curiousity, less critic; allowing the process to unfold, using pen, ink, water, & cold wax. Lastly, to share with others.

If I was to think back into my early adolescence, childhood and teen years; nothing has changed; surrealism has always been where I aligned in the art rehalm. I find myself intrigued with the human mind, the dream world, and my essence as a being.

What has changed is my attempt in scaling larger. Between 2019 & 2022 I was studying etching, pen & ink at a small scale. I attempted to create large scale using this technique; however, it was time consuming. Thankfully, one of my friends Abraham Mojica asked "Why dont't you paint larger?"

Honestly in those moments it seemed too much with etching and after my experience of testing those grounds; I knew it was quite the task. But it gave me the desire to search.

I spontaneously found ink wash on one of my trips to Colombia a week later with my great friend Benjamin & painting larger scale became possible. Inspired by a fellow artist in Bogota D.C, who drew small scale pen and ink work the next day after we flew to Medellin,  I went to create during a thunderstorm & rain water fell on my work- washing the ink.

The assist- thank you nature for teaching me. Since then I have been exploring the creative process with the methods that I have learned along the way. DREAM BLU has been a fun journey, a learning curve, a breath of fresh air that has aligned me with another facet in this life time. It has been fun & I am grateful that I am able to finally share my work. I look forward to sharing more collections with the world!
